
Yellow-Fleshed Xuong Longan (Dimocarpus longan) belongs to the Sapindaceae family. It is a type of Xuong longan commonly cultivated in southern Vietnam, particularly in the southeastern region. The fruit is characterized by pale yellow to creamy-yellow flesh that is relatively thick and firm, moderately juicy, distinctly sweet, and pleasantly aromatic.
Characteristic Features
The fruit is round to slightly oval and usually grows in clusters, with medium to large size depending on growing conditions.
The ripe skin is yellowish-brown to brownish-yellow, slightly rough, relatively thin, and easy to peel.
The flesh is pale yellow to creamy yellow, thick, firm, and moderately juicy. The seed is generally black and centrally located.
Properly ripe fruit should have relatively fresh stems and dry, intact skin without cracks or juice leakage. The flesh should not be excessively soft, watery, or fermented.
Acceptable raw material should be fresh, firm, and intact, free from bruising, decay, mold, fermentation, or abnormal odors. The flesh should not show abnormal discoloration or other signs of deterioration.

The flesh is thick and firm with a slight crispness and pronounced sweetness. It has the characteristic aroma of longan with a pleasant sweet aftertaste. Good-quality fruit should not have excessive sourness, bitterness, or fermented odors.
